Three engagement models

Fractional Procurement Leadership, targeted consulting, or team training: three distinct ways of working, guided by a common objective: enhancing the economic and sustainability performance of your procurement function.

Fractional Leadership

Fractional Procurement Leadership

Your organisation needs a procurement leader, but not necessarily a full-time position. This is the reality for many SMEs and mid-sized companies with significant procurement spend, yet not enough to justify a permanent Chief Procurement Officer or Procurement Director.

Having led procurement functions at Danone, Panzani, McCormick & Company and Auchan, I bring this level of leadership and expertise to your organisation, at the scale and frequency that fit your needs. I help structure and develop the procurement function, co-create the procurement roadmap with your teams, drive performance, support strategic initiatives, lead procurement teams, and manage key supplier relationships.

This type of engagement is designed for organisations that require senior procurement expertise without the commitment of a full-time executive hire. Typical situations include building or redesigning the procurement function, managing a transition period, or providing additional leadership capacity to an existing management team.

How it works

An initial assessment defines the scope, priorities and level of involvement required. The engagement is tailored to your business needs and reviewed regularly as those needs evolve.

I integrate into your organisation in the same way an internal Procurement Director would, participating in leadership meetings, managing teams, engaging with suppliers and driving procurement initiatives through a recurring presence rather than a one-off consulting assignment.

Example engagement

Supported the procurement function of BioGroup in strengthening and professionalising the function. The assignment included a review of existing practices, support on strategic sourcing projects, implementation of procurement governance and procedures, integration of legal requirements into procurement processes, and development of a performance management scorecard.

Outcome: a structured procurement function with clear processes, robust governance, enhanced sourcing capabilities, and the autonomy to sustain performance over the long term.

Advisory

Procurement Advisory & Diagnostics

When a specific procurement challenge needs to be addressed within a defined timeframe, whether it is a maturity assessment, a productivity improvement programme, a procurement strategy to design or refresh with sustainability objectives, or a critical category requiring a new sourcing approach, I provide focused, project-based support.

Drawing on the methods I have applied throughout my procurement leadership career, I combine fact-based assessment, quantified value levers, stakeholder alignment, and actionable roadmaps. Depending on your needs, I can either equip your teams to implement the recommendations independently or support the execution of selected initiatives.

To support this approach, I leverage a software platform I developed from my own procurement leadership methodologies. The solution enables procurement teams to operate more autonomously by providing spend analysis, procurement maturity assessments, action plan management, and progress tracking, all enhanced by AI agents specifically designed for procurement activities.

Example engagement

Supported the sourcing teams of a leading foodservice group in redesigning the procurement strategy for a strategic food category across Europe. The objective was to integrate the group's sustainability commitments while maximising the economic performance of the category portfolio.

Outcome: a procurement strategy co-developed with operational teams, fully adopted by stakeholders, and capable of incorporating sustainability-related costs within a broader value optimisation framework.

Example engagement

Led the deployment of a Scope 3 decarbonisation programme across Auchan Retail, transforming procurement practices across 10 countries, engaging more than 500 buyers and 6,000 suppliers. The programme included the deployment of a carbon assessment methodology at scale, the integration of carbon considerations into procurement processes, and the establishment of an annual governance framework.

Interim result: an 8% reduction in supplier-related Scope 3 carbon emissions across the programme perimeter.

Training

Training & Executive Education

When procurement teams need to strengthen their capabilities, through an internal procurement academy, a professional development programme, a team seminar, or a focused module on a specific topic, I design and deliver training grounded in real-world procurement experience.

My programmes are built around practical business cases and cover topics such as procurement strategy, category management, negotiation, risk management, the impact of artificial intelligence on procurement, and sustainable procurement. Participants benefit from the perspective of a practitioner who has held the leadership roles he teaches.

I also teach procurement and supply management at ESSEC Business School, DESMA Grenoble, and emlyon business school.

Programmes are tailored to each organisation's objectives and can be delivered either in person or remotely, from a few hours of targeted training to multi-session development programmes.

I regularly support procurement academies for large industrial and service organisations, either directly or in partnership with training providers and procurement consulting firms.
